Flagpole Testimonials
Plymol Flags
By the way the flag and banners look absolutely amazing on the new museum I can see the flag every day from my office
window as my building is opposite the town hall, it’s on a hill so gets a bit of breeze, it is always flying away and makes me feel proud every day!!

Shakespeare Birthday Celebrations
Thank you and your team so very much for your help with this year’s Birthday Celebrations. I never cease to be amazed by the extraordinary amount of support and goodwill from individuals, businesses, organizations and groups who help us in this wonderful, unique event.
Anyone who thought we might be upstaged by the great occasion in London the previous day clearly does now know Stratford! With bands playing and flags flying, we continued the party atmosphere in glorious sunshine. Actually, some of the flags flew a little too well in the strong breeze and I apologise that we had to take some of them down prematurely.
As always, if you have any comments or suggestions which will help us in planning next year’s Celebrations, which are to take place on Saturday 21 April, we would welcome them.
With thanks again.

Flagpole moved on Town Hall
It had been above Couching Street for at least 60 years. The flagpole on the Town Hall had proudly celebrated royal occasions, Remembrance Day and many other events – but the Hall’s trustees noticed the wood was beginning to decay. That’s why they used the occasion of the recent road closures, to employ the specialist company – Plymol – to take down the old pole and erect a new one – this time a fibre glass model. It was also resolved to place the pole on the ‘High Street’ face of the building where it creates a good view from Cross while retaining an over the rooftop perspective from Couching Street.
The new position will greatly assist good management of the pole in the future. Tim Horton – chairman of the Trust body – says that working from Couching Street – even on tangled ropes, for example – is all but impossible without road closure. ‘We saved nearly £1000 by using the coincidence of major highway work closures at the bottom of the Town and can sleep happier in the knowledge that shoppers are entirely safe from any danger! The removal of the old and the erection of the new took almost six hours to complete and was aided by a scissor lift supplied by ‘2Cousins’ of Cowley.
‘We could not have done this work without a team that deals with these matters every day. Plymol provided for the new poles for the new scheme on The Mall!’ adds Tim. The Trust body is also currently overseeing new internal work to ease the arrangements for using the stairlift in the Hall. New display and storage capacity is also being added.
